Destri's school dance concert

I have been so bad at updating the blog for awhile now.

I am going to try to be better.

A couple of weeks ago Destri had a

dance concert at school.

It was super fun to watch and I loved

seeing all the dances that she has been practicing

around the house for the last couple of months.

Thanksgiving Blessing Mix

First you take a bag of bugles, add a couple cups of

M & M candies.

Then add candy corn add peanuts and pretzels

Mix together and place

in bags and add a cute tag that

outlines why each of these ingredients is important

to Thanksgiving.

They will act as placecards on the

My sister in law Jeana is getting married.

She saw a cute picture frame she wanted made

from an old window.

I just happen to have this window in my garage.

With a couple coats of paint, it ended up looking like this I talked her into letting me print one of her engagement pictures and I blew it up to a 20x30. It fit perfect. I just love how it turned out. It was a big hit at her bridal shower. I will be making my own for my house now but I can't chose between a family photo or one of just Jason and I. More to follow on this project for sure.

We have been so BUSY at our house this week. We found a renter for our house. Super good news. I was surprised at how easy it was. We pretty much had our choice of who we wanted to rent it. There were 4 or 5 families who really wanted it. I feel really good about the couple we chose. They will be perfect renters. We should be moving in to our new house starting on the 22nd. Jason will be out of town the 17th -21st. Which will be a super crazy week for me. My sweet babysitter Gay will be out of town and it is fall break, so no school for the kids. Between packing, work, soccer and kids I have decided it will be best to pay a company to come out and clean the new house and have it all ready for us to move in. I have some touch up painting and cleaning of the old house to do.

So when I saw this cute Fall Wreath

I had to make my own.

I went to Robert's when they were having the

50% off sale and got all of these items.

And turned them into this I might need to add a grapevine wreath behind it to make it bigger. The door at the new house is bigger than my front door now. I love how it looks

Mantel Re-Do

I have been working on re-decorating my mantel

for sometime now. I am not one to use holiday

items, other than stockings, because I don't like

to change it once I love it.

Plus there are other places in the house for Holiday stuff.

I found this paper number 6.

To represent the Best's to the power of 6.

(Meaning 6 members of our family)

It started out like this.

Just the plain number 6 and some scrapbook paper

I traced the 6 front and back and cut out strips to

mod podge on the sides

I spray painted the 6 brown so that I could

file the edges to give the paper a torn look

then you could see the brown edges.

After she was all done I placed her next to our

family photo

I love the color she adds to the mantel

Half way done.

Good news is, this is practice for

the new house. The items on the mantel

all tie into the colors of the new house.

Less than a month, but who is counting?

Mission Complete

Today my parents completed a 2 year service mission

with a Samoan Ward in Kearns, Utah.

Last night in honor of them and their service

the ward put on a big going away party.

Each group in the ward

(primary,ym,yw,elders,rs and bishopric)

put on a dance for my parents.

It was a very meaningful emotional night.

The member of the ward who have very little

themselves prepare tons of food and gave gifts to my

parents which included the puletasi for my mom and

the lavalava for my dad.

The memeber asked my parents

to wear these outfits to give their homecoming

talks in their home ward. I can promise you that

my parents will be wearing these outfits.

Our family has grown so much and have

felt the blessings of my parents mission.

There has always been a love for this culture and

it has grown over the last couple of years.

I know my parents are going to miss their Samoan family but

we are excited to spend more time with them.

New house

Jason and I found this little beauty the other day.

We have our offer in and our waiting for the bank to

let us know if it is ours.

So excited.

We have been looking for about a year now and

this one landed in our laps on Wednesday morning

with a deadline of Thursday at 7 PM to make and offer.

It has everything we have been looking for

4 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs

Master and common areas on the main floor

and a large open unfinish basement.

it never surprises me when things happen for a reason

If this is the home we are meant to be in

I know our offer will be accepted.

We should know with in two weeks.

Keep your fingers crossed for us.

If we don't get it we will keep looking.

Quick Update

We have been super busy at the BEST home. Destri has been busy with soccer tournaments all summer so when we found out the Park City tournament wasn’t going to happen. We weren’t very sad about it. We planned a much needed family vacation. On Wednesday we packed the car and headed to Las Vegas, Nevada. We got there pretty late so went straight to bed. The next morning we were up and in the car headed for San Diego, California. We rented this cute little house there for the weekend. We went to Sea World and La Jolla beach. With enough time to enjoy the break from everyday life and just relax. We headed back to Vegas and were about to do the New Yorker roller coaster, the M & M factory and the Coke store. We landed back in Utah around 5:30 Monday night and had the car cleaned out, bags unpacked and the kids in bed by 10. The next morning Jason headed to work and I finished cleaning the house and laundry. Mid day Destri needed to run a 5k for soccer so Jason took her to the gym while the other kids napped. I finished up making dinner for our favorite friends the Hansen’s. (Dave has back surgery on Monday.) I dropped it off just in time to finish watching the end of Destri’s soccer game. (Way to go Des, two goals) Off to work today. Then off to Youth Conference for the rest of the week. Back on Saturday. Hoping to have enough time to finish my lesson for Sunday and have everything done for Sailor’s 2nd birthday party on Sunday. Keep your fingers grossed that Jason gets his lesson done while playing single dad while I am gone. Not likely. I will post pictures of everything early next week.

Preschool Advancement and Graduation

Today, Bentley advanced a year in preschool and

Easton graduated.

He has grown so much this year Bentley loves his teachers Ms. Carol and Ms. Angie

South Jordan Montessori IS the BEST preschool out there.

Bentley is almost 4 and he can:

write his name

tell you all of the letters and the sounds they make

He has learned how to greet people

dress himself

count to 100

he has learned about other countries and all kinds of bugs and animals

pracical life skills (clean up, set a table, match socks)

how to read

how to resolve conflicts with out an adult

This year he has gone on several field trips and has just learned so

much. I can't wait to see what he learns next year.

Barn / Farm Animal Birthday Party

Jason Health update that I don't think family has heard

Jason went to the Hemo on Friday and his platlet count is off the charts. His body now has too many platlets. Which could be caused by the meds he is on. So it looks like getting his spleen out has helped with his blood count. Let's hope that we get the same good news from the surgeon this week. Jason is still a little sore but seems to be moving around a little better. Great news for our little family. But mostly for Jason.

Yesterday we went to Bentley's very first soccer game.

Bentley played so good. It was fun to watch him and Easton.

He wore his uniform all day.

When we took him to get a Slurpee he said

"Everyone in here is going to know I played soccer today"

He was so proud of himself. He called everyone to

tell them he scored 5 goals.

I only counted 3 but he knows 5 is more than 3 so

he is going with that number.

Gotta love soccer season.

So I had to make it.

Folded all nice. Everything I need inside. Perfect Clutch first aid kit for my purse. I added band-aids, sunscreen, hair clips, Saftey pins, dental floss, tylenol, bobby pins, and q-tips. I will be making one of these for Destri to put in her soccer bag. Quick, Easy and a Must Have for Mothers.

Spleen Is gone

Jason had his spleen removed on Thursday. It was a LONG day but the surgery went well. We should know in about two weeks if this work or not. Everyone pray this works. Jason is doing really well, he is in a little bit of pain but with walking and the meds he can control it. He has five little holes on the left side under his rib cage. He told Bentley he got in a fight with wolverine. Bentley said " No you didn't, you got shots." Thank you to our family and friends this week for the dinners, prayers and helping with the kids. We are blessed to have you in our lives.

Jason Health Update

Jason went to the doctor on Monday to have his blood tested. He has been going every other week for 7 months now. The doctor has been lowering his steriods each week to try to get him off of them and keep his platlets up. This week they were down, way down. Less than 5000. Normal is anywhere from 150,000 to 400, 000. Anything less than 50,000 is not good. After these results the doctor suggested a bone marrow biopsy to check for lymphoma. Jason had this done of Thursday. We are waiting for the results of the test, which we are hoping to have on Monday. If that comes back negative Jason will have his spleen taken out at the end of the month. We are hoping that with the spleen out, his blood platlet levels will start being normal. Keep your fingers crossed and Jason in your prayers.

I don't enjoy the dentist. So it doesn't

surprise me that my kids don't either.

Last time Bentley had a dentist appointment

we had to pay to have him put to sleep.

Not cheap. He did a lot better now that he is older.

Bentley loved watching the TV on the ceiling.

Good check up. Two small starter cavities that we will get fixed next time. Just to give him a little time to get older. Maybe that will help make the dentist easier.

What a Week!

When you have a sick family, you end up

spending a lot of time at home.

This week has been crazy! As if sick kids and husband

weren't enough. This little Mr decided

to turn 6 months old.

This little Miss learned how to take off her diaper.

She has taken it off and painted with it. I will

keep those pictures for when she dates. She then laughed at me

when I duct taped her diaper on. Little Stinker.

Then she taught herself how to

climb the ladder to the bunk beds. I fear the day

she falls off the top. It is coming I am sure.

This Sturday we took the kids to the

Safe Kids Fair.

My Grandma Maxfield gave me

a pattern to make these cute self

binding blankets. I have been wanting to

try it. With Jason's help(yes Jason helped)

we made this cute blanket for our

new niece.

So easy and now that I know

how to make them, I will be making more.

They are the perfect baby shower gift.

Ding Dong Ditch

Since we don't have Destri on Monday

nights we try to do family night

some other night of the week.

This week we decided to Ding Dong Ditch

some of our family and friends.

The problem with this plan is

Destri hurt her toe at a YM activity

last night. Which means that Jason

and I got to do this alone.

It was fun and I am proud to say we

were only caught once.

Homemade bouncing balls

When Jason goes out of town for work,

he always brings the kids something home.

This time they got kits to make

bouncing balls.

First you take the rubber and place it in the mold.

After soaking in water........ They now have bouncing balls

They really don't mind that Jason is

gone, because they know he will bring

them something cool back.

Career Day

Today was career day at Bentley's

school. He had to dress up so the

class could guess what he wanted to

be when he grows up.

He wore Jason's test smock and saftey classes.

He said he wants to be a Ninjaneer

just like his dad.

Cradle Re-do

My Sister in Law is having a baby girl in June.

Since we are done with the cradle, I thought

I would re-do it so she could use it.

We decided to have a party to celebrate

Chinese New Year

We ate tons of Chinese food:

White rice, Fried rice, orange chicken,

Teriyaki chicken, tangerine beef, pork egg rolls,

potstickers and of course fortune cookies.

The married couples gave thier red envelope money to all the single kids.

The kids played with Chinese Yo yo's, Chinese noise makers,

and Chinese fans.

We all learned a little about each other from the

Chinese Zodiac.

This was a fun party and we learned a bunch of new

things about the Chinese traditions for New Year's.

Bunk Beds

Having kids so close together in a house that

wasn't ready for four children.

We are forced to put Bentley and Sailor

in a room together. So we bought bunk beds.

What a task to decorate for a boy and a girl in the

same room, but I LOVE how it turned out .....

This week for family night we went

to Temple Square to see the

Christmas lights. We went

With my parents and

Grandma Kinder. It was

a perfect night.

My cute little Destri turned 12 on Thursday.

It was a fun day for her, I took cupcakes and coke

to her school glass. Then we went to the dinner of her

choice, which was KFC.

After dinner we had a BEE day party at my house.

Here are the highlights..............

The beehive cake was grey and yellow striped

with white and black polka dot frosting We had all of Destri's favorites donuts, cupcakes, cake and chocolate milk. When the kids left they got a treat bag with all of Destri's favorite candy Twix, Oreo's, Reeses, Tootsie Rolls, baby bottle suckers, chewy jolly ranchers, lafft taffy and the licorice ropes.

Thanks everyone for coming

to celebrate Destri with us.

You all helped make Destri's day perfect.
